 According the Internal Revenue Service, time is running out for homeowners to take advantage of the tax credits that are available as part of the Energy Policy Act of 2005. According to the act, homeowners are eligible for tax credits on certain energy efficient home improvements. To qualify for the credits, items most be purchased prior to Jan. 1, 2008. Eligible items include insulation systems that reduce heat loss or gain, exterior windows including skylights and exterior doors and metal roofs.
