The Shoreline Greenway Trail, a trail that will eventually span the 25 miles from Lighthouse Point in New Haven to Hammonasset State Park in Madison, received $665,000 in funding from the state bond commission. The multipurpose trail will travel through East Haven, Branford, Guilford and Madison connecting parks, railroad stations, village centers and other trails. Governor M. Jodi Rell presented $25,000 to Shoreline Greenway Trail, Inc. in 2006 to initiate construction on the first part of the trail. With the current bond package of $665,000 approved, the state can access $2.65 million in federal matching dollars.
