The Connecticut Chapter of the American Planning Association recently recognized the Gilbert and Bennett redevelopment project in Georgetown with the 2007 Community Development Award, which cites commitment to sustainable redevelopment. While the award would normally go to the redeveloper, Georgetown Land Development Company (GLDC), the company’s president, Stephan Soler, asked that it be presented to the town of Redding. “I felt the town should get the planning award because of its coordinated effort with us,” says Soler.
