The Citizens for a Greener Manchester have recently elected a secretary, facilitator and public relations person among their members. What started as a small nebulous group back in August 2007 with the mission of improving the lives of Manchester residents and nature, has become more official with these elections. The group was founded by Joan O’Loughlin with the mission “to promote awareness of our impact on the environment and to implement viable solutions.” Most of the members were involved in environmental committees at their local churches before the group’s inception. Some of the proposed projects for the group include auditing town buildings for efficient energy uses and finding a location for the three solar panels the town is likely to receive after more than 300 residents signed up for clean energy.
