Danbury’s open space initiative, a 6.6 million proposal to expand and preserve city space, will go to referendum on Feb. 5. Of this total, $4.85 million will go towards improving the existing city parks and expanding the use of others. The additional funds will be used to preserve 1,200 acres of open space in Danbury by 2012, which may include a parcel bordering the Ives Trail and the wetlands on the west side of the city.
