Pubic Power & Utility Inc. of New Milford, an alternative electricity supplier for Connecticut Light and Power and United Illuminating, intends to cut its rate by nearly two percent in February. The current rate of electricity offered by Public Power & Utility Inc. is 10.494 cents per kilowatt hour while the new rate will be 10.294 cents/kWh, a 1.9 percent reduction. The current rate is still close to 11 percent below Connecticut Light and Power’s 11.78 cents/kWh rate and 14.5 percent below United Illuminating’s 12.28 cents/kWh rate.
