The state Department of Public Utility Control recently chose seven projects to enter into contracts with the United Illuminating and Connecticut Light & Power companies. Among these include one that would convert chicken manure into electricity in Bozrah and another than would turn construction and demolition debris into power in Plainville. Each of these projects is projected to generate around 30 megawatts of power. Besides these two biomass proposals, state regulators approved another biomass project in East Canaan, a methane gas system at the South Norwalk Electric Works Landfill, and fuel cell projects in Milford, Waterbury and Stamford.
