West Hartford is planning to begin construction on a half-mile long pedestrian and bicycle trail between New Park Avenue and South Quaker Lane this spring in an effort to increase accessibility to Elmwood. The trail will parallel the flood-plain beside the brook and will hopefully connect all the way up to the UConn Campus and St. Joseph College area one day. The cost of the trail is projected to be around $250,000 although the town is eligible for $176,000 in aid from the state Department of Transportation.
