Art Costa, co-chairman of Re-New London, recently gave the first of a series of lectures regarding environmental topics at Connecticut College. Groups like Re-New London are trying to promote sustainable practices throughout the city’s economic, civic and cultural life. Although Costa ran unsuccessfully as a Green Party candidate for city council in the last election, he is still trying to raise awareness about issues that relate to global warming and the actions that can be taken to reduce this risk. Costa spoke on behalf of the “Focus the Nation” events which are taking place at approximately 1,600 colleges and schools nationally, focusing on these issues. A similar symposium was held at The University of Connecticut campus in Stamford.
