Meriden to Receive Electric Generating Plant

Arena Capital I ltd. may be constructing an electric generating plant on a 50-acre parcel on 129 Empire Ave. near Silver Lake in Meriden. While the original assessed value of the plot was $584,640, the company proposed to buy the property from the city for $1 million. The parcel was donated by Westvaco Corp. to the town back in 2000. The plant would operate at times of high electrical demand to ensure energy is both available and affordable.
